Lecture After Injury

by Jamison Koehler on March 7, 2013

The government dismisses the charges on the morning of trial, but this doesn’t stop the judge from lecturing my client:  “I hope you have learned your lesson from this,” she tells him.

Although it may not be the lesson the judge was referring to, my client did learn at least three things from this experience:

  1. You can spend all sorts of time in custody on the basis of false charges.
  2. You don’t get mints on your pillow in jail.
  3. Nobody apologizes even after the whole thing turns out to have been a big mistake.
