The World’s Shortest Poem

by Jamison Koehler on February 15, 2011

If Ernest Hemingway can write an entire short story in six words (“For Sale:  Baby Shoes, Never Worn”), the world’s shortest poem must have even fewer words.  In honor of my mother’s 86th birthday today, I nominate something she wrote many years ago.  Entitled “Marriage,” it consists of four words:  “I always.  You never.”  I’m still working on the world’s shortest blog entry ever.  I’ll let you know when it’s done.

  1. Awesome, just awesome. I have been told (many times, by many people) that everyone should have one poem that they can recite by heart.

Thanks for making that a possibility for a man with a terrible memory.
